Nadine Côté, LL.B., is an author and employment lawyer. Nadine has worked at some of Canada’s most prestigious law firms and reputable worldwide organizations, including Davis LLP,Ernst & Young LLP, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, Manulife Financial and Torys LLP.
Nadine has expertise in executive arrangements, incentive compensation, employment standards, privacy, human rights, labour, pension and benefits. Nadine has negotiated and drafted severance agreements, executive contracts, change of control agreements, retention arrangements and security-based compensation plans. Her work has withstood challenge by opposing counsel and has been used as the standard for internal precedents where she has worked.
Nadine routinely advises on pension, benefit, labour, privacy and employment matters in the context of corporate transactions. She has worked on labour, employment and executive compensation matters in several prominent transactions, including Bell Globemedia’s $1.7 billion acquisition of CHUM, Cameco’s spin-off of its gold mining assets with the $253.2 million IPO and secondary offering of Centerra Gold Inc., BFI Canada Income Fund’s combination of BFI Canada and IESI Corp. in a deal valued at $1.1 billion, and in the consortium led by Brookfield Properties Corp. in the combined acquisition of O&Y Properties Corp. and O&Y Real Estate Investment Trust valued at over $2.1 billion.
Nadine obtained her Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University in 1992, and she received her LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario in 1997. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1999.
